Assistant Chief Probation Officer Marc Marquez

In May 2023, Marc Marquez was appointed Assistant Chief Probation Officer for Adult Operations. He began his career with the Sacramento County Probation Department in October of 1998 as a Probation Aide in the Youth Detention Facility, then promoted to Deputy Probation Officer and Senior Deputy Probation Officer. His previous assignments include Juvenile Field and Adult Field Services where he was assigned to the department's Gang Unit and a regional narcotics task force. In addition, Marc served as a Field Training Officer and Firearms Instructor.

In 2013, he was promoted to Supervising Probation Officer​ where he was assigned to Youth Detention Facility, Adult Day Reporting Center South and then as a Field Watch Commander.  In 2015, as an Assistant Chief Deputy, Marc was assigned to Professional Standards and Training where he was instrumental in the continued development of department and academy training.

As a Chief Deputy, Marc was responsible for management of the Adult Field Services Division, including oversight of the Field Watch Commanders and the development of partnerships with outside agencies and community-based organizations. Marc believes in community outreach and is focused on bringing officers closer to the community they serve.

Marc is a former Marine and a current member of the department's Honor Guard team. He holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from California State University, San Diego, and is graduate of Foothill High School in Sacramento. 

Marc sees his most important role as a husband and father.  He enjoys spending time with his family and participating in outdoor activities.​
