Victim Restitution

Victims may be entitled to receive restitution payments for financial losses suffered as part of a crime such as the value of stolen or damaged property, medical expenses, counseling expenses, or loss of wages or profits due to injury.  In order for victims to receive a payment, the process begins with the Probation Department.  The officers in the Restitution Unit play a significant role in that they conduct an investigation, communicate with the victims, work closely with Cal VCB as well as the Court. Once Probation completes the process and a determination of restitution has been made, the Department of Revenue and Recovery can process payments received to the victim.  This has a direct impact on the community as we work diligently to uphold the victim's Bill of Rights for the State of California with the ultimate goal of making the victim whole.
