Walnut Grove man arrested after probation officers find assault rifle in home

A Walnut Grove man was arrested Wednesday after Sacramento County probation officers conducting a compliance check of people under post release community supervision found an assault rifle at his home. Edgar Gutierrez, 25, was taken into custody after officers searching the home found the rifle with a high-capacity drum magazine, according to a Sacramento County Probation Department news release. A chambered round was found in the weapon, along with more than 60 rounds in the drum and additional 200 rounds of live ammunition, the news release said. Gutierrez was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of an assault weapon and possession of a high-powered magazine. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
