Probation Chief Receives 2017 MLK, Jr. Difference Maker Award

Chief Probation Officer Lee Seale was presented with the 2017 Martin Luther King, Jr. Difference Maker Award in Innovation for Change at the 2017 Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. The event was held at Capital Christian Center in Sacramento, California, on January 15, 2017. The award is given in recognition of work being done at the Youth Detention Facility to address persistent challenges in the lives of the marginalized and Probation's innovative and creative approaches in addressing societal issues.

"It is an honor to be regarded as a Difference Maker for the work we do at the Youth Detention Facility. Our staff work incredibly hard – pioneering new, alternative approaches to institutional services and care through implementation of evidence-based programming and interactive pro-social activities – and we are really beginning to see the positive impact it is making on our youth and in our community," said Chief Probation Officer Lee Seale.

Each year, the Sacramento MLK Celebration Committee awards a few local leaders, businessmen and women, pastors, and members of the community who are making a difference in Sacramento.
