1. Welcome and introductions

2. Objectives:

a. 6.4.1 Identify the different types of releases

b. 6.4.2 Identify the steps involved in releasing a juvenile

c. 6.4.3 Identify key factors that influence the decision to release a juvenile

d. 6.4.4 Identify the persons to whom a juvenile may be released

e. 6.4.5 Identify the possible consequences of releasing the wrong juvenile 

3. Types of releases: Straight release, release with EM/Home Supervision, intake release, incustody release

4. Discuss the steps in releasing a juvenile (authorization, notifications)

5. Identify factors influencing the decision to release: Severity of crime, prior history, risk to community, probable cause to detain

6. Who can the juvenile be released to? (Parent, guardian, Probation Officer to Placement, etc.)

7. Possible consequences of releasing the wrong juvenile (legal liability, danger to community, danger to juvenile)

8. Medical conditions that may be accommodated upon release (medication supplies, directions on how to continue current treatment)

9. Procedures for an in-custody release (transport to home county)
